The breathtaking scenery alone makes this trip worthwhile. Spend your days rafting down the beautifully scenic river and your nights camping under a canopy of stars, far from the lights of the outside world. Experience nature as it was for your ancestors, before the days of electricity.
This four-night, five-day adventure offers an unforgettable blend of fun and exploration. As the trip takes place in a national park, we practice catch and release fishing to preserve the fish species. Along the way, you may encounter elephants coming down to drink or even catch a glimpse of a rhino. This journey promises incredible memories and photographs.
The trip includes a knowledgeable guide and a professional chef who prepares all meals while camping. All necessary equipment is provided, except for fishing gear, which you can bring or rent from us.
This trip includes all permits for fishing, rafting, camping, and entrance to the national park.
DAY 1 – Arrival and Cultural Immersion in Bardia
Begin your adventure with a flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, where you will be greeted by a personal representative from Babai Resort. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Himalayas during the flight. Your journey to Babai Resort takes you through quaint villages and lush forests. Upon arrival, enjoy a welcome drink, check into your room, relax, and have lunch. In the afternoon, visit a Tharu village and the elephant breeding grounds.
DAY 2 – Rafting and Fishing on the Babai River
After a refreshing night's sleep and breakfast, travel to the village of Chepang to start your rafting journey down the Babai River. Witness the abundant wildlife as you raft to your campsite at Shivapur. Spend the day fishing and exploring, with opportunities to fish from shore at various spots along the way. The river, blocked in places, creates small lakes where fishing is at its finest. Enjoy a riverside dinner and camping under the stars.
DAY 3 – Navigating the Scenic Babai Valley
Awake to the aroma of fresh coffee and breakfast prepared by our camping chef. Break camp and continue rafting downstream to your campsite at either Sanoshree or ThuloShree. Marvel at the crystal-clear waters and breathtaking valley views. Look over the side of the raft to see fish swimming below. After a delicious dinner at the campsite, sleep soundly under the open sky.
DAY 4 – Wildlife Watching and Riverside Camping
Wake up to the enticing scent of breakfast and prepare for another day on the river. Raft to your next campsite at Gunthi, with plenty of opportunities for fishing and wildlife watching along the way. In the evening, enjoy your final night on the river with a sumptuous meal cooked by our master chef.
DAY 5 – Final Rafting Leg and Cultural Evening
On your last day, enjoy breakfast before rafting to Parewadar Bridge on Nepal's main highway. Return to Babai Resort to relax in a luxury room and dine in our restaurant. In the evening, enjoy a Tharu cultural program before retiring for the night.
DAY 6 – Departure or Extended Exploration
Though it's time to return to Kathmandu, there's good news! You don't have to leave just yet. Extend your stay to further explore Bardia National Park with jeep safaris, nature walks, and more. During these additional days, enjoy the amenities of Babai Resort, including the pool, massages (extra), or simply relax in our gardens and lounge. This is the perfect way to conclude a fantastic holiday in the jungles of Nepal.
