On the day of your arrival, one of our representatives will meet you at Kathmandu Airport. If you wish to be picked up at your hotel in Thamel, arrangements can be made (contact your sales agent to arrange a transfer, this service is not included in our rates). Our English-speaking airport representative will give you all of the documents you’ll need, including boarding passes. He or she will also help you check your luggage through. The maximum weight allowed is 25 kg per passenger. Our representative will tell you a little about your trip and answer any questions you may have.
After a flight lasting approximately 55 minutes, you will arrive at Nepaljung (KEP) airport, where Babai Resort representative will be waiting for you with a smile.
On your arrival, you’ll have a few minutes to use the restroom, get a bottle of water, etc., while our representatives get your luggage onto the van which will take you to Babai Resort. The van travels for about two hours to reach the Lodge, through the Babai valley. It’s a very scenic journey and you’ll want to bring your camera!
At the Lodge, you’ll be greeted by the manager who will have a welcome surprise. Your bags will be brought to your room, and your adventure will begin!
Bardia National Park can be reached from all parts of Nepal either by air, road or even by river!
By Air:
5 to 6 daily, one hour flights connect Kathmandu and Nepalgunj (Bardia's nearest airport). Upon arrival at Nepalgunj airport, you can be met by our representative and driven to Babai Resort by private vehicle. This is a very scenic 2 hour drive. One can also catch a bus from Nepalgunj bus station to Thakurdwara, the main village of Bardia National Park HQ. For groups of more than 15 people, we can arrange either a direct or connecting flight from any airport in Nepal to Nepalgunj.
By Road:
One can reach Bardia National Park by road from any part of Nepal. From whichever direction you approach, Ambasa is the easiest turning-off point. By private vehicle, from Kathmandu or Pokhara, it takes 12 to 14 hours. From Chitwan National Park allow 8 to 9 hours. Add 2 or 3 hours to these times, if travelling by passenger buses or mini micro vans. If you are travelling to Bardia from eastern Nepal, catch a vehicle heading towards Mahendranagar.
If you are coming from India, via Bandassa on the India Border, through Mahendranagar, catch a bus heading towards eastern Nepal and get dropped in Ambasa, the gateway to BNP. It takes 9 hours to reach Banbassa from Delhi and a further 5 hours from Mahendranagar to reach Ambasa.
By Water:
For those who are planning a white-water rafting journey on the Karnali, Nepal's mightiest river, and who don't want to return directly to Kathmandu but would prefer to relax and have a jungle adventure, Bardia National Park and Babai Resort are ideally situated.
Your rafting company can make all the arrangements for you to be driven the shortest distance to Babai Resort.
